Possible Causes
Failed door switch, Defective start switch or start button, Blown thermal fuse, Open belt switch (if equipped)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before testing switches or fuses.
- Verify power: Confirm the dryer is plugged in and the breaker is ON. Test the outlet with another appliance if needed.
- Check door switch: Ensure the door closes firmly and the switch clicks. Test the door switch for continuity when pressed; replace if faulty.
- Test the thermal fuse: Access the blower housing from the rear or front and locate the thermal fuse. Test for continuity; if open, replace the fuse and clean the vent system.
- Inspect the belt switch (if present): Some JennAir dryers have a belt switch that opens if the belt breaks. Check that the belt is intact and the switch actuates properly. Replace the switch if defective.
- Check the start switch: On mechanical-timer models, test the start switch for continuity when pressed. Replace if it does not close.
