Possible Causes

Open-circuit inlet thermistor, Disconnected inlet thermistor harness, Broken thermistor mounting, Failed control board sensor circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power and allow the dryer to cool before working near the heater or drum inlet.

  • Locate the inlet thermistor: On many JennAir dryers, the inlet thermistor is mounted near the heater housing or at the front of the drum air inlet.
  • Check connections: Verify the thermistor connector is firmly attached and the wires are intact.
  • Measure resistance: With the dryer unplugged, disconnect the thermistor and measure its resistance at room temperature. An infinite reading indicates an open sensor.
  • Inspect for physical damage: Look for cracks, broken mounting tabs, or signs of overheating around the thermistor.
  • Replace if open: Remove the mounting screw or clip, install the new inlet thermistor, reconnect the harness, reassemble any panels, restore power, and test a heated cycle.
