Possible Causes

Failed drive motor, Loose or disconnected motor harness, Faulty motor relay on control board, Seized blower wheel or drum causing overload

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the dryer before accessing the motor or internal components.

  • Check drum movement: Open the door and try to rotate the drum by hand. It should turn smoothly. If it is very hard to turn, there may be a seized bearing, roller, or blower obstruction.
  • Access the motor: Remove the front or rear panel (model dependent) to reach the drive motor and blower housing.
  • Inspect wiring: Ensure the motor harness connector is fully seated and wires are not burned or broken.
  • Check for obstructions: Inspect the blower wheel for lint clogs, foreign objects, or damage that could lock the motor. Clear any obstructions.
  • Test the motor: With the belt removed, spin the motor shaft by hand; it should turn freely. If it is stiff or noisy, replace the motor. If the motor hums but will not start when powered, it is likely failed and needs replacement.
  • Replace motor if necessary: Remove the belt, disconnect wiring, unbolt the motor, and install the new motor. Reinstall the belt, reassemble the dryer, restore power, and test.
