Possible Causes

Broken moisture sensor bars, Disconnected moisture sensor harness, Open wiring between sensor and control, Corroded sensor contacts from fabric softener residue

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the dryer before working inside the drum or control area.

  • Locate the moisture sensors: Inside the drum, look for two parallel metal bars (usually on the front bulkhead). These are the moisture sensor strips.
  • Clean the sensor bars: Using a soft cloth and rubbing alcohol, thoroughly clean the metal bars to remove any film from dryer sheets or fabric softener. Let them dry completely.
  • Check wiring connections: Access the front bulkhead from behind the front panel and verify that the wires to the moisture sensor bars are securely connected.
  • Inspect for damage: Look for broken or cracked sensor bars or cut wires. Replace damaged components.
  • Test continuity: With the dryer unplugged, disconnect the sensor harness and check continuity across the two bars while bridging them with a damp cloth. The meter should show continuity; if not, the sensor assembly may be open and require replacement.
