Possible Causes
Defective door switch, Misaligned door latch, Broken door strike, Loose or broken door switch wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before testing or replacing the door switch.
- Check door closure: Ensure the door closes fully and latches securely. If the door feels loose or does not click shut, inspect the door strike and latch.
- Inspect the door strike: Look for a broken or bent plastic strike on the door. Replace if damaged so it properly engages the switch.
- Test the door switch: Access the door switch by removing the front panel or top panel (depending on model). Disconnect the switch and test continuity with a multimeter. The switch should show continuity when the button is pressed (door closed) and open when released.
- Check wiring: Verify that the wires to the door switch are firmly connected and not broken or pinched.
- Replace the door switch if faulty: Install a new switch, reconnect wiring, reassemble the cabinet, restore power, and test dryer operation.
