Possible Causes
Household power outage or brownout, Loose power cord connection at terminal block, Tripped circuit breaker, Faulty wall outlet
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Before touching wiring, turn off the dryer breaker and unplug the dryer.
- Reset the control: Press any key to clear PF, or press Power then restart the cycle. If the code does not return, it was likely a one-time power glitch.
- Check the breaker: Go to your electrical panel and ensure the dryer’s double-pole breaker is fully ON. Reset it by switching it OFF and then back ON firmly.
- Inspect the power cord connection: Unplug the dryer, remove the rear terminal block cover, and verify that the three (or four) power cord wires are tight and not burned. Tighten loose screws and replace any burned connectors or damaged cord.
- Test the outlet: Use a multimeter or a plug-in tester to verify correct voltage at the outlet (typically 240V for electric dryers). If voltage is low or intermittent, contact an electrician.
- Monitor for recurrence: If PF appears repeatedly without actual power loss, the main control board may be failing and should be inspected or replaced by a technician.
