Possible Causes
Worn drum support rollers, seized idler pulley, dry drum glides, worn rear drum bearing (on some models)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Unplug dryer and shut off gas before disassembly.
Steps:
- Isolate noise: Run the dryer briefly and listen to locate the noise source (front, rear, bottom). Then unplug.
- Inspect idler pulley: Remove front or lower panel and check the idler pulley. If it does not spin freely or squeals when turned, replace it.
- Check drum rollers: Inspect rear and front drum rollers for flat spots or seized bearings. Replace rollers in sets for even wear.
- Drum glides: On models with front drum glides, inspect for wear through to the backing. Replace worn glides.
