Kenmore
Poor Airflow or Low Heat Output
Dryer runs but takes too long to dry clothes, even on high heat

Possible Causes
Restricted exhaust vent, partially clogged lint filter housing, weak heating element, cycling thermostat out of calibration
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Unplug dryer and shut off gas before disconnecting venting.
Steps:
- Clean lint filter: Wash the lint screen with warm soapy water if coated with residue. Dry thoroughly.
- Check venting: Disconnect the vent and run a timed dry cycle with a small load. If drying improves, the vent is restricted and must be cleaned or shortened.
- Inspect vent run: Clean the entire vent path to the outside using a vent brush. Avoid long runs and excessive elbows.
- Check cycling thermostat: If airflow is good but temperatures are low, test the cycling thermostat and replace if it opens too early.
