Possible Causes
Failed door switch, blown thermal fuse, faulty start switch, open drive motor winding
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Unplug the dryer and shut off gas before testing internal components.
Steps:
- Confirm power: Ensure the dryer powers on (lights or display). If completely dead, see separate no-power fault.
- Check door switch: Verify the drum light turns off when the door is closed. Test the door switch for continuity when pressed. Replace if faulty.
- Test thermal fuse: Locate the thermal fuse on the blower housing and test for continuity. Replace if open and clean venting.
- Check start switch: On mechanical-timer models, test the start switch for continuity when pressed.
- Drive motor: If all above are good, test the drive motor windings for continuity. Replace the motor if open or seized.
