Possible Causes
Clogged lint screen, blocked exhaust vent, crushed vent hose, lint buildup in blower housing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Unplug the dryer and shut off gas before disconnecting venting.
Steps:
- Clean lint screen: Remove and wash the lint screen with warm water and mild detergent if coated with fabric softener residue. Dry completely before reinstalling.
- Inspect vent hose: Check for kinks or crushing behind the dryer. Replace with rigid or semi-rigid metal duct if needed.
- Clean vent run: Disconnect the vent from the dryer and wall. Use a vent brush or vacuum to remove lint from the entire length to the outside.
- Check exterior hood: Ensure the outside vent flap opens freely and is not blocked by lint or debris.
- Internal cleaning: If AF persists, open the dryer cabinet and clean lint from the blower housing and internal ducts.
