Possible Causes
Stuck or shorted keypad button, Failed user interface (UI) control, Loose ribbon cable between UI and main control, Moisture or contamination on control panel
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Unplug the dryer before removing the console or touching internal wiring.
- Step 1 – Power cycle: Disconnect power for 5 minutes, then restore and test the panel. Sometimes a temporary glitch clears.
- Step 2 – Check for stuck buttons: Press each button individually and ensure it has a distinct click and returns freely. Wipe the panel with a slightly damp cloth and dry thoroughly.
- Step 3 – Access the console: Remove the screws securing the top and control console. Carefully tilt the console forward to access the user interface board and ribbon cable.
- Step 4 – Inspect and reseat ribbon cable: Disconnect the flat ribbon cable between the UI and main control, inspect for corrosion or damage, then reconnect firmly.
- Step 5 – Replace UI if needed: If certain buttons do not respond or F02 returns, replace the user interface/control panel assembly with the correct KitchenAid part. Transfer any overlay or knobs as required.
If replacing the UI does not resolve the issue, the main control board may also be defective and should be tested by a technician.
