Possible Causes
Shorted exhaust thermistor, Thermistor wires shorted together, Moisture or condensation in thermistor connector, Damaged harness insulation
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Disconnect power and let the dryer cool before servicing.
- Step 1 – Access thermistor: Remove the lower front panel or front panel to reach the blower housing where the exhaust thermistor is mounted.
- Step 2 – Inspect harness: Look for pinched or melted wires leading to the thermistor. Repair any damaged wiring with proper high‑temp wire and connectors.
- Step 3 – Test thermistor: With the thermistor disconnected, measure resistance at room temperature. A very low reading (near 0 ohms) indicates a shorted sensor.
- Step 4 – Replace thermistor: Remove the mounting screw, install a new OEM exhaust thermistor, and reconnect the harness firmly.
- Step 5 – Dry out connectors: If there is evidence of moisture, dry the area thoroughly and ensure the venting is not causing condensation back into the dryer.
Reassemble, restore power, and run a timed dry cycle to verify that F23 does not reappear.
