Possible Causes
Broken or slipped drive belt, Seized drum roller, Seized idler pulley, Failed drive motor start winding
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug dryer and shut off gas if applicable.
Steps:
- Check drum rotation: Try turning the drum by hand. If it spins freely, suspect a broken belt. If stiff, suspect rollers or idler.
- Inspect belt: Remove top and front panels; check if belt is intact and around drum and motor pulley. Replace if broken or heavily worn.
- Check rollers and idler: Spin each roller and the idler pulley; replace any that are noisy or seized.
- Motor test: If belt and rollers are good but motor only hums, the motor may be bad and should be replaced.
