Possible Causes

Completely blocked vent duct, Vent hood flap stuck closed or frozen, Heavy lint clog in blower housing, Collapsed or internally separated flexible duct

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the dryer. Gas models: shut off gas supply.

Steps:

  • Check outside vent hood: Confirm the flap moves freely and is not painted shut, frozen, or blocked by screens, nests, or debris. Clear any obstructions.
  • Inspect entire vent path: Disconnect the dryer from the vent. Use a vent brush kit to push through the entire length of the duct from inside and outside. Remove all lint clumps.
  • Inspect duct condition: Look for crushed sections, screws protruding into the duct, or sagging flexible duct that can trap lint. Replace damaged sections with smooth-wall metal duct.
  • Clean blower housing: Remove the rear or front panel (depending on model) to access the blower housing. Remove the cover and vacuum out lint. Ensure the blower wheel spins freely and is not melted or broken.
  • Reassemble and test: Reconnect ducting, plug in the dryer, and run a timed dry cycle. Verify strong airflow at the outside vent and confirm the code does not return.

If the code persists with a fully cleaned vent and strong airflow, the internal airflow sensor or control board may be faulty and should be checked by a technician.
