Possible Causes
Faulty door switch, Misaligned or damaged door latch, Broken door strike, Loose wiring harness at door switch
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before working on the door or switch.
Steps:
- Check door closure: Open and firmly close the door. Ensure nothing is caught in the door seal. The door should latch securely without play.
- Inspect door strike and latch: Look at the plastic or metal strike on the door and the latch on the cabinet. If the strike is bent, cracked, or missing, replace it. If the latch is loose, tighten its screws.
- Test door switch: With the door open, locate the door switch plunger. Press it in and listen for a distinct click. If there is no click or it feels loose, the switch may be bad.
- Access and inspect switch wiring: Remove the top panel or front panel (depending on model) to access the door switch. Check that the wiring harness is fully seated and not burned or broken.
- Replace door switch if needed: Disconnect the wires, remove the mounting screws or tabs, and install a new LG-compatible door switch. Reconnect wires and reassemble the cabinet.
- Test operation: Plug the dryer back in and start a cycle. The dE code should clear if the door circuit is restored.
