Possible Causes
Shorted door switch, Pinched or shorted door switch wiring harness, Faulty main PCB door input circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer.
Steps:
- Inspect harness: Access the door switch area and trace the wiring harness back toward the control board. Look for pinched, cut, or melted insulation, especially where the harness passes through metal openings.
- Disconnect switch and test: Disconnect the door switch from the harness. If the code changes or clears when powered back on (do not run a cycle with switch disconnected), the switch is likely shorted and should be replaced.
- Repair wiring: If wires are damaged, cut out the bad section and splice with proper crimp connectors and heat-shrink tubing.
- Control board check: If a new switch and good wiring still produce dE2, the main PCB may have a failed input circuit and will likely need replacement by a technician.
