Possible Causes
Restricted airflow causing overheating, Shorted heater coil touching housing, Failed cycling thermostat, Faulty thermistor reading low temperature
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power.
Steps:
- Clean airflow path: Thoroughly clean lint filter, internal ducts, blower housing, and exhaust vent. Ensure strong airflow at the outside vent.
- Inspect heater coil: Remove heater housing and visually inspect the coil. If any part of the coil is touching the metal housing, replace the heater assembly.
- Check cycling thermostat: Test the cycling thermostat for proper operation (continuity changes with temperature). Replace if stuck closed.
- Verify thermistor: Test the exhaust thermistor and replace if out of spec.
