Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer and shut off gas supply before disassembly. Work in a well-ventilated area.
Steps:
- Check gas supply: Ensure the gas shutoff valve is fully open and other gas appliances are working.
- Observe ignition (if safe): With panels in place, restore power and gas, start a cycle, and watch through the burner view port. If the igniter does not glow, suspect the igniter or control. If it glows but no flame appears, suspect gas valve coils or gas supply. If flame appears then goes out repeatedly, suspect flame sensor or coils.
- Inspect burner assembly: Disconnect power and gas again. Remove front panel and drum (if required) to access burner. Check wiring to igniter, coils, and flame sensor.
- Replace common failure parts: Replace the gas valve coil set and flame sensor if ignition is inconsistent. Replace the igniter if it is cracked or does not glow.
If you smell gas continuously or are not comfortable working with gas components, contact a qualified gas appliance technician.
