Possible Causes
Failed exhaust thermistor sensor, Loose or corroded thermistor connector, Broken thermistor wiring harness, Overheated thermistor due to lint buildup
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer. Gas models: shut off gas.
Steps:
- Access thermistor: Remove the rear panel. The exhaust thermistor is typically mounted on or near the exhaust duct close to the blower housing.
- Inspect connections: Check that the thermistor plug is fully seated and free of corrosion or burning. Reseat the connector.
- Clean area: Vacuum lint from around the thermistor and exhaust duct to prevent overheating.
- Test thermistor (if you have a meter): Disconnect the thermistor and measure resistance at room temperature. Compare to LG specifications (commonly around 10–12 kΩ at 77°F/25°C; verify for your model). If reading is open, shorted, or far out of range, replace the thermistor.
- Replace thermistor: Remove mounting screw(s), install the new LG exhaust thermistor, reconnect wiring, and reassemble the rear panel.
