Possible Causes
Overheating due to restricted airflow, Thermistor out of calibration, Loose thermistor mounting causing poor contact, Faulty main PCB temperature circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug dryer and shut off gas if applicable.
Steps:
- Check airflow: Clean lint filter, exhaust duct, and outside vent to ensure proper airflow. Restricted airflow can cause temperature spikes and tE3.
- Inspect thermistor mounting: Ensure the thermistor is firmly attached to the duct or housing and making good thermal contact. Tighten screws if loose.
- Clean around sensor: Remove lint and dust from the sensor area.
- Reset and test: After cleaning and reassembly, run a test cycle. If tE3 returns quickly, consider replacing the thermistor and, if needed, having the control board checked.
