Possible Causes
Broken or slipped drive belt, Worn motor start capacitor, Seized drum support rollers or rear bearing, Failed drive motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect mains power before opening the cabinet.
- Check drum rotation by hand: Open the door and try to rotate the drum. If it is very stiff or jammed, suspect seized rollers or foreign objects.
- Inspect belt: Remove the top and front panel to view the belt. Replace if broken, frayed, or off the pulleys.
- Examine rollers and idler: Spin each drum roller and the idler pulley by hand. Replace any that are noisy, rough, or seized.
- Test motor capacitor: Locate and safely discharge the capacitor, then measure its capacitance. Replace if out of spec.
- Motor replacement: If the motor hums but will not start even with a good capacitor and free drum, the motor is likely defective and should be replaced.
