Possible Causes

Defective door interlock switch, Misaligned door catch, Broken door latch hook, Loose wiring to door switch on front panel harness

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the dryer or switch off the circuit breaker before any work. Do not bypass the door safety switch for operation.

  • Check door closure: Open and close the door firmly. Ensure the door is not sagging and that the latch hook fully engages the door strike on the cabinet.
  • Inspect the door latch and strike: Look for cracks, wear, or deformation on the plastic latch hook and the metal/plastic strike. Replace if loose or broken.
  • Test the door switch: Remove the top cover (usually rear screws, slide back and lift). Access the front panel area where the door switch is mounted. Disconnect the switch connector and test continuity with a multimeter while pressing the switch. It should change from open to closed.
  • Check wiring harness: Inspect the harness from the door switch to the main control module for loose plugs, burnt pins, or damaged insulation. Reseat connectors firmly.
  • Reassemble and test: Refit panels, restore power, and try starting a cycle. If F1 persists with a confirmed bad switch, replace the door lock / door switch assembly.
