Possible Causes
Dirty or coated moisture sensor bars, Broken or disconnected sensor wiring, Shorted sensor to drum, Defective control board sensor input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before cleaning or accessing internal wiring.
- Locate moisture sensors: Typically two metal strips inside the drum near the lint filter opening or on the front bulkhead.
- Clean sensor bars: Wipe the bars with a cloth dampened with white vinegar or mild detergent to remove fabric softener and residue. Rinse with a damp cloth and dry.
- Inspect for damage: Ensure the bars are not bent or touching the drum. Check that the mounting screws are tight and not corroded.
- Check wiring: From behind the front panel, trace the wires from the sensor bars to the control board. Ensure connectors are secure and wires are intact.
- Test operation: Run a sensor-dry program with a damp load. If F14 returns after cleaning and wiring checks, the control board may require replacement.
