Possible Causes

Faulty motor, Failed motor relay on PCB, Broken motor wiring harness, Open thermal protector on motor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the dryer. Do not bypass safety devices.

  • Check drum rotation by hand: Ensure the drum is not jammed. If it turns freely, the issue is electrical.
  • Inspect motor wiring: Remove the rear or side panel and check the motor connector and wiring harness for damage or loose connections.
  • Check motor thermal protector: Some motors have an internal thermal cut-out. If the motor overheated previously, it may have opened. Allow the dryer to cool fully and try again.
  • Listen for relay click: With the dryer reassembled and plugged in, start a cycle and listen for a click from the control board. No click may indicate a failed relay or control board.
  • Replace motor or PCB: If wiring is intact and the motor tests open-circuit, replace the motor. If the motor is good but not receiving power, the main PCB likely needs replacement.
