Possible Causes
Broken drive belt, Belt slipped off idler pulley, Seized drum support rollers, Seized motor or drum bearings
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer. Do not keep trying to start it, as this can damage the motor.
- Check drum rotation by hand: With the door open, try to rotate the drum. If it spins very freely with no resistance, the belt may be broken. If it is very stiff, bearings or rollers may be seized.
- Inspect the belt: Remove the top cover and look down at the drum. If you cannot see the belt or it is hanging loose, it must be replaced.
- Access rollers and idler: Remove the front or rear panel to inspect drum support rollers and idler pulley. Spin each by hand; replace any that are noisy or stiff.
- Replace belt: Fit a new belt around the drum, motor pulley, and idler according to the routing diagram (often printed inside the cabinet or in the manual). Ensure correct tension.
- Reassemble and test: After reassembly, run a short cycle empty to confirm smooth drum rotation.
