Possible Causes

Failed door lock solenoid, Jammed door latch mechanism, Broken door strike, Wiring fault between lock and PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the dryer. Do not force the door open with tools that may damage the cabinet.

  • Check for mechanical jam: Gently press on the door while trying to open it. If it opens with slight pressure, the latch may be misaligned.
  • Access the door lock: Remove the top cover and front panel screws. Carefully pull the front panel forward to reach the door lock assembly.
  • Inspect the lock and strike: Check the plastic door strike on the door and the lock mechanism on the cabinet for cracks or deformation. Replace any broken parts.
  • Test the lock coil (with multimeter): Disconnect the lock connector and measure resistance across the lock coil terminals. An open circuit indicates a failed lock.
  • Check wiring: Follow the harness from the lock to the main PCB. Repair any damaged wires. If the lock and wiring are good but E17 persists, the control board may not be driving the lock correctly.
