Dryer door will not stay closed or pops open during a cycle.

Safety First: Unplug the dryer before adjusting or replacing door components.

• Step 1 – Inspect latch and strike: Open the door and examine the plastic or metal catch on the door and the strike on the cabinet. Replace any parts that are cracked or worn.
• Step 2 – Adjust door alignment: Check that the door is level and square with the opening. Tighten hinge screws and adjust slightly if the door is sagging.
• Step 3 – Replace latch kit: Install an OEM Maytag door latch kit if the catch no longer holds securely. This often includes both the catch and strike.
• Step 4 – Test closure: Close the door firmly and start a cycle to ensure it remains closed throughout operation.
