Stuck door switch, Burned-out drum light bulb, Loose light socket wiring, Failed main control light relay
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Unplug the dryer before replacing bulbs or switches.
- Step 1 – Replace bulb: Remove the drum light cover and replace the bulb with the correct type and wattage specified by Maytag.
- Step 2 – Test door switch: If the light stays on with the door closed, test the door switch for proper operation and continuity. Replace if stuck or faulty.
- Step 3 – Inspect light socket: Check for loose or burned wires at the light socket. Repair or replace as needed.
- Step 4 – Control board check: If the bulb and switch are good but the light never works, the main control's light circuit may be defective and require replacement.
