Possible Causes
Leaking steam water inlet hose, Loose steam nozzle connection, Condensation in long uninsulated vent, Blocked vent causing moisture backup
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Unplug the dryer and shut off the water supply to the steam function before inspecting. For gas models, also shut off gas if moving the appliance.
- Step 1 – Inspect steam hoses: Check the cold water supply hose and Y-connector feeding the dryer steam inlet. Tighten hose connections and replace any cracked hoses or washers.
- Step 2 – Check internal steam connections: Remove the top panel and inspect the steam valve and nozzle tubing for leaks while briefly turning on water (use caution and towels).
- Step 3 – Examine vent for condensation: Long, uninsulated vents running through cold spaces can cause water to drip back. Insulate the vent or reroute to reduce condensation.
- Step 4 – Clear vent blockage: A blocked vent can cause moist air to back up and condense. Clean the entire vent system and exterior hood.
- Step 5 – Test for leaks: After tightening and replacing any leaking components, restore water and power and run a steam cycle while monitoring for drips.
