How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Unplug the dryer before disassembly. Edges inside the cabinet can be sharp; wear gloves.
- Step 1 – Access drum supports: Remove the front panel and front bulkhead to expose the drum, idler pulley, and support rollers.
- Step 2 – Inspect idler pulley: Spin the idler pulley by hand. If it squeals, feels rough, or does not spin freely, replace it.
- Step 3 – Check drum rollers: Rotate each drum support roller. Replace any that wobble, are flat-spotted, or do not spin freely. It is best to replace rollers in pairs.
- Step 4 – Inspect drum glides: On models with front drum glides, inspect the glide pads for wear through to the backing. Replace worn glides.
- Step 5 – Replace belt if worn: If the drive belt is cracked, glazed, or frayed, replace it while the dryer is open.
- Step 6 – Reassemble and test: Reassemble the dryer, ensuring the belt is routed correctly around the motor and idler. Run a test cycle to confirm the squealing is gone.
