Possible Causes
Restricted airflow, Failing drive motor overheating, Lint buildup around motor, Worn motor bearings
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Unplug the dryer and allow it to cool completely before servicing.
- Step 1 – Clean airflow path: Clean the lint filter, lint housing, blower housing, and exhaust vent to ensure proper airflow.
- Step 2 – Inspect motor area: Remove the front or rear panel to access the motor. Vacuum lint from around the motor and vents.
- Step 3 – Evaluate motor: Spin the motor shaft by hand. If it feels stiff, rough, or noisy, the motor may be overheating and tripping its internal overload. Replace the motor if symptoms persist after cleaning.
- Step 4 – Test operation: Reassemble and run a cycle. If the dryer still stops mid-cycle and restarts only after cooling, schedule replacement of the drive motor.
