Possible Causes
Shorted inlet thermistor, Open inlet thermistor, Damaged harness to inlet thermistor, Moisture in connector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Disconnect power before working inside the dryer.
- Step 1 – Access inlet thermistor: Remove the front panel or top panel (depending on model) to reach the inlet thermistor on the front bulkhead or air inlet.
- Step 2 – Inspect harness: Look for pinched, cut, or burned wires leading to the thermistor. Repair or replace as needed.
- Step 3 – Test thermistor: Disconnect the thermistor and measure resistance at room temperature. Replace if reading is near 0 ohms (short) or infinite (open).
- Step 4 – Replace thermistor: Install a new OEM Maytag inlet thermistor and reconnect the harness securely.
- Step 5 – Dry out connectors: If there are signs of moisture, dry the area thoroughly and ensure no leaks from the vent or door seal are dripping onto the sensor.
- Step 6 – Verify repair: Reassemble, restore power, and run a test cycle to ensure F25 does not return.
