Possible Causes
Shorted moisture sensor bars, Sensor harness shorted to ground, Control board sensor circuit fault, Excessive moisture or corrosion on sensor connectors
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Disconnect power before working inside the dryer.
- Step 1 – Inspect sensor bars: Look for foreign objects bridging the two sensor bars (e.g., metal objects, wet lint). Remove any debris.
- Step 2 – Clean and dry: Clean the bars with rubbing alcohol and ensure the interior of the drum and sensor area are dry.
- Step 3 – Check harness for shorts: Access the back of the sensor bars and inspect the harness for pinched or rubbed-through wires touching the drum or chassis.
- Step 4 – Test resistance: With the harness disconnected, verify there is no continuity between the two sensor leads when the bars are dry and not bridged. If there is, the bars or harness are shorted and must be replaced.
- Step 5 – Control board check: If the sensor circuit and harness are good but F29 persists, the main control's sensor input may be faulty and require replacement.
- Step 6 – Verify with test load: After repairs, run a sensor dry cycle with a damp load to confirm proper cycle length and absence of F29.
