Possible Causes
Missing L2 leg at terminal block, Tripped double-pole breaker, Loose power cord connection, Burned terminal block
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Turn off the dryer breaker and unplug the dryer before inspecting electrical connections. Only perform live voltage tests if you are qualified.
- Step 1 – Check breaker: At the electrical panel, firmly reset the double-pole breaker for the dryer. Both handles must be in the ON position.
- Step 2 – Inspect power cord and terminal block: Remove the rear access cover to the terminal block. Look for burned wires, melted plastic, or loose screws. Repair or replace any damaged components.
- Step 3 – Verify voltage (qualified persons only): With the dryer plugged in and the rear cover removed, carefully measure voltage between L1 and L2 (should be ~240V), L1 to neutral (~120V), and L2 to neutral (~120V). If L2 is missing, the issue is in the house wiring, breaker, or cord.
- Step 4 – Replace damaged parts: Replace a burned terminal block or power cord with OEM-rated parts. Ensure strain relief is installed correctly.
- Step 5 – Test dryer: Reassemble, restore power, and run a heated cycle to confirm proper operation and that F31 does not return.
