Possible Causes
Defective start button on UI, Child lock enabled, Open start circuit on main board, Loose harness between UI and control
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before removing the control panel.
- Check for child lock: Many Midea dryers have a control lock feature. Look for a key or lock icon and hold the corresponding buttons (often 3–5 seconds) to unlock.
- Try different cycles: Select another cycle and attempt to start. This can rule out a specific program issue.
- Inspect UI panel: Remove the console and check the start button switch or touchpad for damage. Test with a multimeter if it is a mechanical switch.
- Check harness: Ensure the cable between the UI and main board is secure.
If the button and wiring are good, the main control board's start circuit may be defective and require replacement.
