Dryer drum turns but there is a loud squealing or screeching noise

Safety first: Unplug the dryer before disassembly. Wear gloves to avoid cuts from sharp metal.

• Isolate the noise: Run the dryer briefly and listen to determine if the noise is from the front, rear, or bottom. Then disconnect power.
• Access drum supports: Remove the top and front panel to expose the drum, rollers, and idler pulley.
• Inspect rollers: Spin each drum roller by hand. If they squeal, wobble, or feel rough, replace them as a set.
• Check idler pulley: Spin the idler. If noisy or stiff, replace it. Do not lubricate with oil; use only manufacturer-approved parts.
• Inspect drum glides: If your Midea model uses front glides, check for wear through to the backing. Replace if worn.

Reassemble carefully, ensuring the belt is routed correctly around the motor and idler. Test for quiet operation.
