Possible Causes
Flat-spotted drum rollers, Worn drum support shaft, Loose drum baffles, Foreign objects in drum seam
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before opening the cabinet.
- Check the load: First, run the dryer empty. If the noise disappears, the issue may be heavy items (shoes, belts) hitting the drum.
- Inspect drum rollers: Remove front panel and drum. Examine rollers for flat spots or uneven wear. Replace as a set if damaged.
- Check drum baffles: From inside the drum, press on each baffle (the plastic/metal lifters). Tighten screws from the outside if loose, or replace broken baffles.
- Inspect drum seam: Look for coins or small objects stuck in the drum seam or felt seals. Remove any debris.
After replacing worn parts, reassemble and test. Persistent banging may indicate a bent drum, which usually requires professional replacement.
