Possible Causes
Clogged lint passages, Failing drive motor, Overloaded drum, Restricted ventilation around dryer
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before internal inspection.
- Reduce load size: Overloading can cause the motor to overheat. Try smaller loads.
- Clean lint and vents: Thoroughly clean the lint filter, internal ducts, blower housing, and external vent to improve airflow.
- Check motor cooling: Ensure the motor cooling fan (if separate) is intact and not clogged with lint.
- Inspect motor: If the dryer still shuts off after a short time, the motor's internal overload may be tripping due to age or internal faults. Replace the motor.
Also ensure the dryer has adequate clearance from walls and cabinets for ventilation.
