Possible Causes
Blown thermal fuse on blower housing, Defective door switch, Failed start button or user interface, Open belt switch (if equipped)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before testing components. Do not bypass safety devices for normal operation.
- Check power: Confirm the outlet has power and the breaker is on. Test with another appliance if needed.
- Verify door closure: Ensure the door is fully closed and latching. Listen for a click from the door switch when closing.
- Test door switch: Access the switch and test for continuity when the door is closed. Replace if it does not change state.
- Check thermal fuse: Locate the thermal fuse on the blower housing. Test for continuity. If open, replace and inspect for blocked vents.
- Inspect belt switch: Some Midea dryers have a belt switch near the idler pulley. If the belt is broken or the switch is faulty, the dryer will not start. Replace belt or switch as needed.
- Test start button: Use a multimeter to verify the start switch closes when pressed. Replace the UI or switch if defective.
If all safety devices and switches are good, the main control board or motor may be at fault.
