Possible Causes

Failed hall sensor or tachometer on motor, Loose sensor wiring, Damaged motor pulley or sensor magnet, Control board sensor input failure

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the dryer before accessing the motor or underside of the drum.

E17 indicates the control cannot correctly detect drum rotation speed or position.

  • Inspect motor area: Remove the rear or bottom panel to access the motor. Look for a small sensor or hall device near the motor shaft or pulley.
  • Check wiring: Ensure the sensor harness is firmly connected and not damaged.
  • Inspect sensor magnet or target: Some designs use a magnet or slotted wheel. Make sure it is not broken, loose, or contaminated with debris.
  • Test sensor: Use a multimeter to check sensor resistance or output according to service data. Replace if out of spec.

If the sensor and wiring are good but E17 remains, the main control board may have a defective tachometer input.
