Safety first: Do not repeatedly reset a tripping breaker. Unplug the dryer and keep it disconnected until the fault is found.

Locate electrical faults:

Inspect the power cord and plug for damage; replace if any cuts or burns are visible.
Access the heater assembly and check for signs of arcing or the element touching the metal housing.
Use a megohmmeter (insulation tester) if available to check heater and motor insulation to ground; replace components with low insulation resistance.
Check for water leaks or condensation around electrical components, especially in condenser and heat-pump models; dry and correct the source of moisture.
If you are not experienced with electrical testing, contact a qualified technician to avoid shock hazards.
