Possible Causes

Open-circuit NTC sensor, shorted NTC sensor, damaged NTC wiring harness, failed electronic control module (ELP/ELPWS)

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the dryer or switch off the circuit breaker before removing any panels. Allow the appliance to cool completely.

Steps to check the NTC sensor:

  • Remove the top cover (usually two screws at the back, then slide back and lift).
  • Locate the drum/inlet NTC sensor near the front of the drum air channel or heater housing (on many Miele models it is clipped into the air duct).
  • Visually inspect the sensor and wiring harness for burns, breaks, or loose connectors.
  • Disconnect the sensor plug and measure resistance with a multimeter: at room temperature (20–25°C) most Miele NTCs read roughly 10–20 kΩ (check service data if available).
  • If the reading is infinite (open) or near 0 Ω (short), the sensor is defective and must be replaced.
  • Inspect the wiring from the NTC back to the main control board for pinched or broken wires.
  • Reassemble, restore power, and test. If the error persists with a known-good sensor and wiring, the electronic control module may be faulty and should be diagnosed/replaced by a qualified technician.
