Possible Causes
Blocked lint filter, clogged exhaust duct, restricted condenser (condenser or heat-pump models), failed blower fan motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before cleaning internal components.
Restore proper airflow:
- Remove and thoroughly clean the lint filter with warm water and mild detergent; dry completely before reinstalling.
- Inspect the exhaust ducting from the dryer to the outside vent. Remove any kinks, crushed sections, or heavy lint buildup. Shorten overly long duct runs if possible.
- On condenser and heat-pump models, remove the condenser unit (if user-removable) and rinse it under running water from the rear to the front until water runs clear. Allow to drain and dry.
- Check the blower fan area for lint clumps or foreign objects. Spin the fan by hand to ensure it moves freely.
- Reassemble and run a test cycle. If F4 persists and airflow is confirmed good, the blower motor or control’s airflow monitoring circuit may be faulty and require professional diagnosis.
