Possible Causes
Defective door switch, misaligned door latch, broken door catch, wiring fault between door switch and control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before removing the front panel or working near the door switch.
Check door system:
- Open and close the door firmly; listen for a distinct click from the door switch. If no click is heard, the switch may be faulty or misaligned.
- Inspect the door catch and strike for wear or breakage; replace if the door does not close tightly.
- Remove the front panel or control panel trim (model dependent) to access the door switch assembly.
- Test the door switch with a multimeter for continuity when the door is closed. Replace the switch if it does not change state correctly.
- Check the wiring harness from the door switch to the control board for loose connectors or damaged wires.
- Reassemble, restore power, and test. If F5 remains, the control board input circuit may be defective and require professional service.
