Possible Causes
Dry or worn idler pulley bearing, Worn drum rear bearing (if equipped), Misaligned belt causing friction, Lack of lubrication on bearing surfaces (where applicable)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer. Do not apply oil to parts that are designed to be permanently lubricated unless specified by the manufacturer.
- Access idler pulley: Remove the front panel and drum to reach the idler pulley.
- Inspect idler: Spin the idler pulley by hand. If it squeaks, feels rough, or wobbles, replace it.
- Check drum bearing: On models with a rear drum bearing, inspect for wear, scoring, or looseness. Replace the bearing kit if worn.
- Reinstall belt correctly: Ensure the belt is routed properly and aligned on the drum and pulleys to prevent edge rubbing.
