Possible Causes
Failed inlet thermistor, Loose or corroded thermistor connector, Damaged harness between thermistor and control, Main control board sensor circuit fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before removing any panels. Heating components and metal surfaces may be hot.
- Confirm symptom: Run a timed dry cycle on high heat and check if the drum air remains cool. If there is no heat and E05 appears, proceed.
- Locate inlet thermistor: The inlet thermistor is typically mounted near the heater housing or air inlet inside the drum bulkhead. Remove the front panel or drum as needed to access.
- Inspect wiring: Check the thermistor connector and wiring for loose pins, discoloration, or damage. Reseat the connector firmly.
- Test thermistor: Disconnect the thermistor and measure resistance at room temperature. Compare to Monogram specifications. Replace the thermistor if readings are open, shorted, or out of range.
- Check control connections: At the main control board, verify that the thermistor harness is fully seated and not pinched or damaged.
- Re-test: After replacing the thermistor, reassemble the dryer, restore power, and run a test cycle. If E05 persists, the main control board may be defective and should be evaluated by a technician.
