Moisture Sensor Circuit Fault
Dryer does not heat properly, E06 appears intermittently during cycle
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Dirty or coated moisture sensor bars, Broken or disconnected moisture sensor wires, Failed moisture sensor assembly, Faulty main control board moisture sensing circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before accessing internal wiring. Do not touch sharp drum edges without gloves.
- Clean moisture sensor bars: Locate the two metal sensor bars inside the drum, usually near the lint filter housing. Clean them thoroughly with rubbing alcohol and a soft cloth to remove dryer sheet residue and film.
- Check for physical damage: Inspect the bars for cracks, breaks, or heavy corrosion. Replace the moisture sensor assembly if damaged.
- Inspect wiring: From inside the cabinet (front panel removed), trace the wires from the sensor bars to the harness connector. Ensure they are intact and firmly connected to the main harness.
- Test in timed dry: Run a timed dry cycle (which does not rely on moisture sensing). If the dryer heats and runs normally in timed dry but shows E06 in sensor cycles, the sensor circuit or control is at fault.
- Replace sensor assembly: If cleaning and wiring checks do not resolve the issue, replace the moisture sensor assembly. Persistent E06 after replacement may indicate a defective main control board.
