Possible Causes
Tripped high-limit thermostat, Failed cycling thermostat, Severely restricted exhaust vent, Heater relay on control board stuck closed
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and allow the dryer to cool completely. Overheating is a fire hazard; do not continue using the dryer until the cause is corrected.
- Inspect and clean venting: Thoroughly clean the lint filter, internal lint duct, blower housing, and entire exhaust vent run to the outside. Remove all lint and obstructions.
- Check high-limit thermostat: Access the heater housing and locate the high-limit thermostat and thermal cutoff. Test for continuity with a multimeter. If open, replace the thermostat and any associated thermal fuse/cutoff as a set.
- Test cycling thermostat: Check the cycling thermostat on the blower housing for proper continuity at room temperature and response to heat (refer to Monogram specs). Replace if stuck closed or out of range.
- Inspect heater relay: On the main control board, inspect the heater relay for signs of welding or burning. If the heater remains on when it should be off (e.g., during air fluff), the relay may be stuck and the control board should be replaced.
- Verify operation: After replacing components and cleaning venting, run the dryer on a medium heat cycle and monitor temperature and operation. If E08 recurs, contact a qualified technician for further diagnosis.
