Dryer will not heat, E09 displayed on gas models

Safety first: Unplug the dryer and shut off the gas supply at the shutoff valve. If you ever smell gas, ventilate the area and do not operate electrical switches; contact your gas supplier or emergency services.

• Verify gas supply: Ensure the gas shutoff valve to the dryer is fully open. Confirm other gas appliances in the home are working properly.
• Observe ignition (if safe): With panels in place and gas on, start a heat cycle and look through the burner inspection port. You should see the igniter glow and then hear a click as the gas valve opens, followed by flame. If no glow, suspect the igniter. If glow but no flame, suspect valve coils or gas supply.
• Test igniter: Disconnect power and access the burner assembly. Remove the igniter and test for continuity. Replace if open or visibly cracked.
• Check gas valve coils: Test the resistance of the gas valve coils and compare to Monogram specs. Replace the coil set if readings are out of range or if the igniter glows but the burner does not light.
• Inspect flame sensor: Clean the flame sensor with fine steel wool if sooted. Test for continuity when cool and verify it opens when heated. Replace if defective.
• Reassemble and leak check: After reassembly, turn gas back on and use a leak detection solution on fittings. Do not use open flame. If E09 persists, the main control board or gas valve body may require professional replacement.
