Humidity / Sensor Dry Calibration Error
Dryer displays E16, sensor dry cycles end too quickly or run too long
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Contaminated moisture sensor bars, Incorrect cycle selection for load type, Control board calibration fault, Poor drum grounding
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before cleaning internal components.
- Clean sensor bars: Wipe the moisture sensor bars inside the drum with rubbing alcohol to remove any residue from dryer sheets or fabric softeners.
- Check drum ground: Ensure the drum grounding strap or wire is intact and securely fastened to the drum and cabinet. A poor ground can affect sensor readings.
- Use appropriate cycles: For very small loads or single items, use timed dry instead of sensor dry, as sensor cycles may not detect moisture accurately.
- Control reset: Disconnect power for 5 minutes to reset the control. If E16 returns and sensor performance remains poor after cleaning, the main control board may require replacement.
